Voting an absentee ballot in person
You may request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk's office during the days and hours specified for casting an absentee ballot in person.

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may submit a request to vote an absentee ballot to their municipal clerk. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen who:
- will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day
- has resided in the ward or municipality where they wish to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before election.
The elector must also be registered to vote to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued*.
Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail
Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or election or both. You may make written application to your municipal clerk for an absentee ballot in person, by mail, by fax, by email or at MyVote.wi.gov.
Your written request must include:
- your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote
- the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different from the address above
- your signature
- a copy of your photo identification*
The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is:
5 pm on the fifth day before the election, March 28, 2024.
*Voters who are indefinitely confined due to age, illness, infirmity, or disability may not be required to provide photo ID. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.
**Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

Election Details
An election will be held in the Village of Belleville, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The following offices are to be elected to succeed the present incumbents listed:

Municipal Judge Mary Gehin
Office Terms
The term for village trustee begins on April 16, 2024. The term for all other offices begins on May 1, 2024. Trustee terms are for two years unless otherwise indicated. The Municipal Judge Term is for four years.
For Candidates
The first day to circulate nomination papers is December 1, 2023, and the final day for filing nomination papers is 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the office of the village clerk.
Primary Election
If a primary is necessary, the primary will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
Additional Information
Acceptable Photo ID will be required to vote at this election. If you do not have a photo ID you may obtain a free ID for voting from the Division of Motor Vehicles.

By filing the Notification of Noncandidacy, the incumbent(s) listed above have given advanced notice that they do not presently intend to be a candidate for reelection to their Village Board office.
Except as otherwise provided under state law, a qualified elector of the Village who wishes to become a candidate and have their name appear on the election ballot for any of the village board trustee seat(s) that will be contested at the 2024 Spring Election must file all necessary forms at Village Hall, 24 W. Main Street, Belleville, WI 53508 by no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
